I've also tried using a Playmaker, the Central/Defensive midfielder. Usually Carrick there, but so far it's been poor
Any suggestions if its feasible?

I also tried upping the creative freedom on my right winger as I had Joaquin but like you it didn't seem to make much of a difference and certainly didn't seem to improve things.
I've been playing around with a more attacking version of this tactic but so far it's not been that great as the defensive midfielder doesn't seem to see as much of the ball when you play more attacking, and this is the player who was pulling all the strings for me in the original tactic so there was no need to make him the playmaker as he already seemed to be.
For now I've gone back to the original tactic as it's still working very well, but I'm still working on an attacking version for games where I'm either struggling to get a goal or are behind in the second half.
