It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Great thread Cleon. Just wanted to say thanks for investing so much time in this purely for the benefit of others.

Excellent thread Cleon. Really interesting and easy to understand.

It is always good to get a good mix in your team as it will offer you different options later down the line or if things are going wrong in a game.
I always like to have 1 right footed & 1 left footed CB. And 1 who can play & 1 who can do the scrappy stuff. I feel this gives balance to my back four. I tend to give the ball playing CB a touch more freedom, mentality wise. It doesn't always work but it keeps possesion and can build attacks.

If I play a back 4 I prefer my left DC to either be left footed or a DLC and same for the right side aswell. Things that are not symetrical at times bug me

It sounds like you set up pretty simliar to me interms of thinking about the personnel you want and what there jobs will be.

It helps me to worry less. A left sided CB is more likely to use their left foot more often, in theory anyway as a position can determine the use of a partucular foot. That's my thinking anyway and it seems to work more often than not.

That seems a bit contradictionary. Sorry for being nippicking, but do you keep the passing and tempo the same, and when do you change it? Also, do you keep the one tactic and adjust it as necessary, or do you save a series of tactics and change as and when necessary?

It's a very good threat, well worth the read.

Why does it contradict?

I always use 1 tactic and just adapt it, its much easier.
