A muddy pitch causes passes to drop short.
An extremely hard (dry) pitch causes passes to run long.
Extreme cold makes injuries more likely.
Rain and heat increase the rate at which condition drops.
Altitude increases the rate at which condition drops.

Think more the Ecuador national team. Hardly ever lost a WC qualifying game at home despite a reasonably poor away record. Qualified comfortably for the last World Cup despite not really being that good.
FIFA were considering (not sure if it passed) bringing in a law for international matches giving a specific altitude above which FIFA internationals couldn't be played.
So, it's not a stupid as it sounds.

wwfan,
This post looks great and I can't wait to start using it.
I have one question tho, how does your player instructions fit into this or is this included. I am really in the dark when it comes to using player instructions and team instructions. What overides what etc.

Im not having the desired success with this. Playing as Tottenham, started well by beating Blackburn away, then two draws at home to Bolton and Watford. Especially the one against Watford was horrible, a boring match, hardly created anything, they played 442 short farrows so I played attack.
Yeah, yeah, players need time to get it right etc etc, I know but still! I've some good players so surely I should create chances at home against freaking Watford!

| I found that opposition instruction usually helps. I mark tightly the ST and close down wingers always. If any of those players have considerably weaker foot, I use "show onto weaker foot as well". Finally, if your fullbacks are good at tackling, you may apply hard tackling to the wingers.
You choose tactic as you normaly do, just set opposition instruction. Also, 4-3-2-1 Triangle formation usually results in more crosses to your area, so using DMC may help to pick up lose ball after crosses.

| Did you try switching tactics at all? Sometimes, I have had great success with Control in those situations even tho there are short farrows. If you see the opposition wasting any time (keeper smoking cigarette b/f goal kick, etc.) and you are Home and favored, I would lower passing and tempo significantly or use Control regardless of the short or no farrows imo.

I believe these tactics are pretty good so I think my problem is the morale. I'm a rookie manager and my key players dont have faith in me yet |

Hi all,
I'm a bit new to all this and just getting back into the game after getting really annoyed with it when I first got it.
I'm getting some success with these tactics, and have tweaked them here and there to fit with the players I have (am using Chelsea....I know I know, hang my head in shame). However I'm seeing a couple of issues that I can't work out how to solve
1. Players seem to keep trying to pass through the opposition, leading to rebounds and usually loss of possession. This usually happens when the opposition is right next to the player, so why try and pass through them? I would be interested to hear if anyone else is experiencing similar problems to this
2. Unnecessary 'He's taking no chances with that' kicks. My defenders, particularly fullbacks, do this too often and sometimes when under no pressure at all
Any hints as to how to cut down on these problems would be extremely helpful.
Cheers,
Phil
