It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

first match: home ( played possession version ) agaisnt Boro, well controled the game, got down 0-1 for a corner goal as they got woodgate and huth, scored a goal from corner as i got Samaras.

no real chances for their attack, nor for mine, need to change my midfielders \ strikers setting for attack now, as I haven't got any real killer ball whole match long eventhough my MCa is set on 14 IM and CD ( 14 DL ) and mixed FWR and mixed Long shots, often TTB and rare cross together with first notch of direct passing.

YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE Liverpool 8 - 0 Basiktas

back to the subject:
I've had some miserable Home match against Reading, with them getting plenty of killer balls leaving their strikers on a 1x1 situations with my GK.
question is: could it be that Tight-marking and Offside trap are conflicting? as it looked like it definatly does.
so.. setting Offside trap and loose marking or else tight-marking and no offside trap?

you dont need an offside trap when you are counter attacking you are too deep your line will be breached far too deep and player straight in on the keeper. I never use tight marking i only ever use zonal marking thats all.

anyway i think its all getting a bit off topic from the original post. maybe you should start a new thread dealing with some of them issues like tight marking etc.

well, Ive played the Home possession tactic, since I played home against a weaker team.

on the other hand, on the away match against
Blackburn I've got to sting and win 1-0, with a nice counter-attack goal.

well actually I played home possession, so i thought offside trap would work - big mistake. why not using tight-marking? I always thought that's the way to gain the ball back quicker - pressing immidiatly.

i'll try taking tight-marking off, will see how it comes out.

That works best for me as well. The tight marking instructions for defenders seems to disturb their positioning when employed a tight man marking system. They will focus just as much on the oppositon player to mark, as the offside trap.

Atleast that is the way with my beloved Liverpool

so, what are your suggestions? I'm struggling defensive-wise ever since I tried to implement the D-line theory, my MCs just get dragged while oppo plays one-twos and dribble past them, leaving their strikers all alone and ofcourse scoring..

Nice thread. Just a few questions. Why isnt counter attacking ticked in your counter tactics? And what about time wasting? Lastly, do you use opp instructions say for extra closing down on dangermen?
