Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default 3 at the back?

Having all the same problems as everybody else re: dodgy defending against long shot and unable to score many with 20+ attempts on target, however I was wondering if anybody has a decent tactic not requiring full backs, using three centre backs.
I hate playing four at the back, never have in Champ/FM. Usually manage to create a tactic that works (and isn't that the entire point, the reason everyone's getting so frustraed is that in real life, any tactic can work, with the right players). This time, I can do well, but up against any really good team (e.g. Man Utd (I am Chelsea)), no chance. I don't want to have to resort to playing full backs just to win against some teams, surely you should be able to play (and have a chance of winning) with the tactics you actually want to.

PS, not all out attack, 3142 formation, quality all over the pitch.

Ive got 1 normal tactic, 1 def tactic, 1 very def tactic and 2 very attacking formatins all using 3 Centre backs and 2 wb's. Won the premiership in season 3 with man city and currently 3rd in spanish div 1 at xmas in season 2 with Zaragoza. Dont know how to upload tactics onto here.
Let me know and I will
Cheers

If you can't upload it, can you explain it? I'd like to create a good 3=4=1=2 that doesn't give up a goal every time somebody crosses from the byline.

HOLD UP BALL.

That's my basic set up, obviously tweak it for your own guys passing, dribbling, long shot ability etc.

I normally struggle for the first 4 / 6 games then it becomes very solid. you need a good striker, you wont score many, but you'll let in less!
I've now got 5 variations of this and as I said before won the prem with Man city season 3 and now 2nd in spain with Zaragoza in 2nd season in Feb.
Biggest thing is both outside DC's man mark, middle one back arrow zonal and both WB's attacking mentality with back arrows, man marking tightly.

I've got a 62% win ratio at the moment, so hope you have some luck with it.

Sorry its such a long message but I don't know how to upload tactis or training.

Cheers

Also, always have your MC as a playmaker and set the team playmaker to his best ability, IE to feet, run onto ball etc.

If anyone tries this for half a season or so let me know how you get on please. As I say I've tweaked it for very defensive and very attacking and it's worked for me, but let me know how you guy's get on.

Cheers
