Getting a lone striker to play well is turning out to be ahrder than I thought. He's laying on quite a few goals, but there are a lot of games where he just disappears from play. I'm going to play around with his CF and see what happens.

Finally cracked it. Now the lone striker is far more likely to score now. Far more one-on-ones and the strikers plays behind the defence more and lays on chances for the mids to finish. http://www.mediafire.com/?8w9z2nyzvtx |

Yep 1st one. None of others were doing the business for me. Either too defensively weak or just too damn kooky (3 at the back, ARE YOU MAD!!!)
Just put this together in five mins and the next game we had 80% possession and I thought "hello" could be onto something here.
It's so versatile as well because of the five man midfield, it works home, away, PRM or Europe. Bit like Arsenal at the moment |

Those results are rather impressive! I will give this a bash on my Leicester team and let you know how it goes, i've always preferred short and quick football.

B1G_D,
would you please post some screenies from games that you are huge favorites in(ie wigan or reading at home)? I find that short and quick works great against teams that attack, but struggle to break down time wasting formations.

B1G_D don't your players tire very easily? I know they are Arsenal and Wenger has bought players with high natural fitness, stamina etc.. However unless you have a watertight schedule they must be tired?
Judging on the way Arsenal play--Have been to five home games this season--if your players are tiring they usually have short "5-10 minute periods" where they lower the tempo for a short while.

Popping in to say this tactic is great.
Are playing in the welsh league, so have changed tempo and passing to slow and direct, but the striker is banging in goals.
Good work!

Not really, the central mids are the ones who tire the most and they finish in the mid to low 70s.
Of course against lower league sides that sit back it can be hard to break them down, especially if your wingers and striker aren't firing, but with five players getting good shooting opportunites, it's VERY rare that you won't score at least one goal: |
