It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

I had a similar problem with spurs and kept giving away stupid goals, i decided to pack out the midfield and work from there so i used a 4-5-1 formation that becomes a kind of 4-3-3 with possesion so can turn attacking quickly, it worked excellently so i'd suggest you use that and see how it goes.

http://rapidshare.com/files/68781490/4-3-2-1_Mike_Spurs...__Jan_2009_.tac.html

For the back 4 i'd use:

LB - Bale
CB - King
CB - Dawson/Kaboul
RB - Chimbonda

Midfield:

LCM - slightly attacking so i'd put Boateng here
CM - the most attack minded midfielder here so maybe Dica (you'll get a lot of assists and few goals here)
RCM - this is the defensive midfielder so i'd play Huddlestone here (he's better than Zokora)

AML - Aaritalo (he's perfect here and will provide a lot of goals and assists)
AMR - Lennon (he scored 18 last season playing here and set up 12)

ST - Bent (the man is a goal machine and scored 40 with 10 assists from 45 games last season for me). Altho I'm sure huntalaar would be awesome here too but i didnt get him.

I sold Defoe and Jenas early on as they weren't needed and also Berbatov got unhappy but Bent scored more so he had to go.

Keane is a good back up for the AMR position, and the rest of the players you have will be good to cover the rest but i'd suggest giving it a go as it worked great for me and really turned the team around to finish 2nd.

Let me know how you get on and if you have any questions about it.

Hi all,

I'm brand new to this forum but not FM. This one seems the best thread to reply to since I am Spurs fan through and through. Ive tried the game twice and have been sacked after the 2 seasons on both occasions. I managed 7th in prem league and 1 Carling cup final but that's the best it got. Anyone finished 4th or higher with Spurs and if so any hints on how?

same happened to me Andy, on my first attempt i did ok, qualified both seasons for UEFA cup (7th in first season and 6th in second) but then got sacked, i restarted from the beginning and used a 4-4-2 tactic i had from FM07 which did ok finishing 6th, then in the second season it stopped working so after 5 games i switched to the tactic i posted above (i found it on this Forum or another, its not actually mine but i tweaked it slightly) and then went on to finish 2nd winning the league cup and got my contract renewed.

I recommend this tactic and Bent up front is a goal machine!

Ok Mike, just starting it again now and only 1 win from first 5 games so I'll try switching to ur tactic above. Bent has got 3 goals for me so far and even in real life he's now got 2 in 2 prem games. Gr8 win against wigan so hopefully my fortunes will change on FM and real life with mighty Spurs COYS.

Be interested to see it, ive tried the fiora tactic mentioned, it seems ok but only in 12th place at turn of year, still in UEFA and carling cup semi. I say 12th but I was in 19th after 7 games and record since is pld 13 won 6 drawn 2 lost 5 (3 to chel, man u and arse).

Well I'm now impressed withthe fiora2 tactic, After January I went unbeaten in prem for rest of season and finished 6th so back in europe. I'm now 6 games into new season with 4 wins and 2 draws i.e. 21 prem games unbeaten now. I really am hoping for 4th place. I to have VDV with bent, keane and berbs all sharing up front. one thing I didnt mention is that I was forced to sell Lennon for 20 mil to Arsenal.
