Planning to start a game with juve. My initial take is you can cream serie B with the squad you get, with the deduction and all that factored in. After that once you get into serie A you can use the transfer budget to attract better players, whom you may not get in season 1. Whats the take of people who have already played some seasons?

I started a league with Juve too and managed to win Serie B by 19 points in my first season and lost out in the Italian cup final 1-0 to Milan.
I managed to sell a few players (Cheilini, Guzman, Zalayeta) to allow me to sign Hilguarin from River who is quality and George Junior Weah, brilliant off the bench at scoring important goals.
Now in my second season 2nd in Serie A after 24 games and still in the Uefa cup. Added Fran Merida, Freddy Guarin and some 17 year old AM from Feyenoord.
Got so many youngsters on my shortlist that I wanna sign by can't yet because they are yet to turn 18 and can't sign them. Also, only being able to sign one player outside the EU is frustrating. Have to wait til next season to sign Sherman Cadrenes, doh!! Then the season after that to get Giovanni Dos Santos, both players when scouted prompted a 'sign them whatever the price' response from my scouts.
Enjoying this league like crazy and I hope I get one over on big spending Milan sides.

Dunno if its just me but i find it frustrating that i can only sign 1 fgn player for the team acutally in Seria B i couldnt even sign 1? just wanted to know why is this? i kno a few quality players for team that are cheaper options and also fit better onto my squad rather than european players.

Guys, into my first season with juve...after 6 matches, 9 points, 20 goals for 2 against.
Sold no one, chelsea made a bid of 20 M on last day of transfer window, which the chairman accepted, but finally transfer got cancelled because chelsea did not have sufficient funds
Bought just one player, Shaun Derry from Leeds and he has been amazing so far. Check him out.

Serie B is turning out to be too easy. 24 matches and i have won 20 and drawn 2. Nowadays I don't even know who is 2nd, don't care to look at the table, don't even spend much tiome on tactical modifications. It is like the players run out into the pitch and win.
Lost the italian cup semifinal to Inter 2-3 on aggregate. For the away leg which I lost 3-1, I had Marchioni, Camoranesi, Guzman and Nedved all injured, which meant Balzeratti and Birindelli playing as ML and MR.
In Jan, the chairman accepted a 14.5M pound bid for Chiellini, and I had to sign Van Damme on an urgent basis for 2.3 M. Chiellini had been my highest avg rated player, but this has freed up some cash for the tough times in Serie A next season.
By the way, very limited posts in this thread, no one fancies the Old Lady any more? |

I'm first in the Serie A after 18 games in the 2nd season. 9 points ahead of Inter but they have 1 game in hand.
Januari transfer window now, only bought some youth players and a few backups. Will have Forlan (only have 3 strikers at the moment) and Almiron joining me on a Bosman at the end of the season.
I lost to Napoli in the qualifying rounds of the Coppa :o but since getting a Champions League spot is my only aim this season. I don't really care.
Alexis and Gonzalo Rodriguez have been awesome signings. Trezeguet is still going very strong as well.
Current line-up:
Buffon; Chiellini, Gonzalo Rodriguez, Alexis, Blasi; Chiumento, Anderson, Paro, Camoranesi; Bojinov, Trezeguet;
2nd string:
Mirante; Balzaretti, Kovac, Zapata, Zebina; Nedved, Marchisio, Zanetti, Gasbarroni; Paladino, Del Piero;

right im in the serie a and am 1st.
in bought a couple of cheap midfielders (even tho my budget was 32mil) then the board said they where unhappy that world class were not being bought. so i thought sode them and bought no one else. my denfence was great only conceding 34 goals in 2 seasons so there was no improvement needed. it comes to the last day of the transfer window in january and the board put a bid in for dede(who is 29) and sign him for 20 mil when there was no need. so i have not played dede since.

My take is when board wants world class player, buy one that can fit into youir system and plan. otherwise they will go out and buy someone you don't need for crazy money.
They are an irritation when it comes to selling also. I set an asking price of 22M for chiellini and Chelsea went up to 14.5 after 3 rounds of negotiation and the board accepted. i am sure the moneybags would have eventually offered 22 if I had stood firm.
