Just finished my first season after 22 hours. Had lots of fun, got to the semi of the coppa but lost to Inter (who won the CL/serie A/coppa).

After a shaky start in the league I started to enjoy it and finished 1st by 8 pts.

Transfers Out

Para £1.8m
Marchisio £50k
Zalayeta £1.4m
Legrottaglie £500k
Zebina £1.7m
Balzaretti £2.3m

Transfers In

Kaboul £3m
Digard £325k
Higuain £2.5m
Sivok £2.2m
Stenild £20k
Vanden Borre £2.5m
Tuia £275k
Wijnaldum £230k
Trecarichi £140k
Traore (Armand) £1.1m
Bulot £350k
Choubani £325k

All young (16-22) for the future as Juve have plenty of old guns.

This is the first whole season of FM2007 i've played and i'm finally loving it!

Losing Tudor on a free at the end of the season which is a shame as he has played well. Trying to sign De Las Heras from Atletico to replace him or Micah Richards (Man city got relegated).

Aim for Serie A is CL qualification. Nobody would accept a pay cut so the balance stands at (£14m) so I doubt a title challenge will be in order!

Just finished my first season too.

No Major outs

Ins
Sivok
Lavezzi
Stenild

Won the Serie B with 90 odd points didnt lose a game and only drew 1 or 2. GD of 100.

Board gave me a mighty transfer budget of 2.2 million for the Serie A i managed to get that up to 17 million by selling off reserves and the loan returns, Trezeguet went for 14 mil to real Madrid.

Brought Bokinov for 2.9 mil, wish i'd known foirentina would bid nothing and i would have bid less :/, then i brought in Guisseppe Rossi for 14 million, and Ratina from corinthians.

So far i've won 3 and lost 1 in Serie A sittin in 2nd place.

Played with Juve first and made some STUPID mistakes. Trezeguet to Liverpool 10M and Buffon to Arsenal 18M, replaced by Huntelaar 12M (aka Mr Injuries) and Hildebrand 11.25M (Mr Consistency - Consistently making errors and letting in an average of 2.4 goals per game)! Will never be so naive again.

Just started my second season. Sold a lot of the reserves and loan returnees to cut the wage bill and get some money in. My balance is just into the black now.

Ins

Lee Cattermole (Free)
Michael Uwezu (Free)
Nicolas Millan (£275k)
Micah Richards (£4m)
Daniel De Las Heras (£1.3m)
Magnus Wolff Eikrem (£425k)

I think i have a great youth selection now and the old boys are still playing great. Only position i need really is a great, young backup goalie in case 'brick wall' buffon is ever injured and for when he eventually retires.

So far played 3 Serie A games
Lost to Udinese 2-1, beat Lazio 2-0 and beat Palermo 4-0. The first one was unlucky!

Seems I've gone the other way to most in this.

Rather than worry about keeping the stars I decided to instead balance the books hoping that the younger players brought in would still be enough to gain promotion and enable me to prevent the hemmoraging of cash that others have encountered.

Out went:
Buffon - 13.5 million
Trezeguet - 11.5 million
Nedved - 5 million
Del Piero - 10.5 million
Zalayeta - 1 million

Camoranesi is being a miserable twunt and wants a 50k pay increase so he's on the transfer list as well.

In:
Gianluca Curci - Loan
Alesandro Rosi - Loan
Kevin Larsen - 600k
Gonzalo Higuain - 3.5 million
Alexey Yeremenko - 2.8 million
Espen Ruud - 250k
Valerio Virga - Loan
Tomas Sivok - 2.3 million
Marco Borriello - Loan
Bruno Costil - 100k

Granted, not a who's who of international superstars but they should all be good enough to get me out of the division and are all young enough to improve/sell/send to feeder next season.

Nice reduction in wages to a little under 250k, 40 million in the bank and a big squad still to be trimmed ready for a big investment in players.

Assuming I don't get my arse kicked in the league that is.

interesting to see another approach.
I'm up to the xmas break and holding onto the stars while bringing in youth seems to be working.

After 15 games I'm top of Serie A with 35pts though inter could go 1pt clear if they win their 3 games in hand. My back four of Chiellini-Kaboul-Richards-Vanden Borre have an average age of 21 so I can't see much need to spend there! A top quality left winger may be on the cards at the end of the season as I play Del Piero there and he's both getting on a bit and also not really that great.

Inter finally matched my asking price for Camoranesi on the last day of the transfer window so he left for 7 million, and in a further attempt to reduce expenditure I ditched all of my feeder clubs except Standard Liege and Siena.

Half way through the season and the gamble is sort of paying off.

Played 21 - Won 14 - Drawn 3 - Lost 4
Semi Finals of Italian Cup

Lost more than I can probably afford to even though I have the best defence (conceded 9) and best attack (scored 34) in the league sitting 10th, 13 points off the top.

Need to find another goalscorer because Bojinov is carrying the side at the moment (20 goals in 23 games) with Higuain second highest on 6.

I just had to start a new game with Juventus after having read the first thread on this discussion.
I won the Serie B league title which having read every thread on here is obviousley the norm, i sold Trezeguet (purely because i dont actually like him in real life), camoranesi went, sold a few other like zalayeta and other non first team members.
Bought in Billy sharp 11 goals all as sub not bad, danny haynes shouldn't have bought him never really played, sivok signing of the season, heasted steady, hofland love him, and elano highest average rating at end of the season although had a few injuries.
Bojinov and delpiero were great 27 goals for BOJ and 11 assists and 17 goals for Del Pers.
Now then season 2 Serie A having read the threads on this list i have cut the wage bill by re-negotiating contracts and sold or sent on loan most if not all of my reserve squad.
However i am really worried for the season ahead i don't think BOJ, Del Pers and Nedved will be able to cut it in serie a next season mainly due to there age and i worry if BOJ is good enough for the big league, also my centre backs of Hofland and Kovac no problem with Hofland but again Kovac's age worries me and my back up of Billy Jones and Boumsong(who i also hate in real life) aren't good enough.
These worries i have are coupled with the problem everyone has in season two with Juventus of the financial situation.
Please any help anyone can give me with regards to season two would be welcomed greatly, bearing in mind the financial situation, and maybe help with my worries.

Thanks

I think selling Trez is a mistake because he's still a top class player and I always like to keep the key players that make the club what they are or you may as well be anybody. I love scouting and buying youth (u-17) so the majority of my buys in the first season as you can see were youth for the future. I think you're right to be concerned about Kovac, he's warming the bench for me this season and my central defensive paring of micah richards and Younes Kaboul seems to be working despite their age. (I had the good fortune of man city being relegated so I got Richards for 4m). I brought in Georginio Wijnaldum from Feyenoord on my scouts recommendation for £230k as a long term nedved replacement and bought similarly young wingers and backup defenders.I think you probably need a big targetman style striker to get the goals against the teams that go defensive on you and stop you playing.

Maybe your right i shouldn't have sold Trezeguet but really personal preferance came into it i cant stand the guy.
However i haven't looked to see how man city did will try that see if i can get richards, the formation with only one up front BOJ, then delpers behind him, Nedved left/high up field and elano right/high up field, with haested and sivok 2 cm's in behind them and a normal back four. I love this formation although it does lend itself to the striker having an enormous amount of shots saved, so annoying but maybe a target man like you said will help me i will look into.

Thanks for the help
