Default PhotoShop not responding!

For some reason, my program won't start. It starts to come on but doesn't even go through the motions of finding the plugings and stuff. I have PhotoShop on my laptop, but it isn't connected to the net. What could be wrong? |

Did you try to hold Ctrl+Shift+Alt (Windows) when you boot Photoshop; this will reset your preference file.

Make sure that you make a backup first, if you want to restore the original file

mmm... this sounds to me like you already have an instance of PS running. In which case, it won't startup twice.

Some times this happens, whereby a program doesn't shut down properly. It "appears" to be shut down and 'unloaded', but it's actually still running in the background.

Do a Ctrl+Alt+Delete and under the "Processes" tab look for the "photoshop.exe". This is for Win2k or XP only. If you see it there, select it and press the "End Process" button. Then try to restart the program.

Let us know if any of these things mentioned helped ok.

Default Still messed up

Hi guys and thanks for trying to help but it still isn't working. Maybe I'll just reinstall it. Is it worth it? Or is there something else I can do? There is something else wrong with this computer too, the run.dll thing isn't responding right, I guess, and every time I try and shut the comp down the application has to be manually ended. Wierd.

Which Photoshop, which laptop, which os, windows or mac, etc etc...?

If you have problems, then better either backup to cdroms or another partition (prefereably both) or transfer them to the puter that is connected to the net and check your hdd to be shure there's nothing on the verge of a total collaps.

If you backed up your data you can either use your install disk for your os or have your recovery disks ready.

Do you have much emty space on your hdd?

Default Today's NOT my day

I think there's some demon on my back man. [upset] [doh] [upset] I've been playing on my laptop, where my PhotoShop usually is competent. But when I go to apply a filter (various ones), a dialog box comes up and says ps.exe has created errors and must be closed. Pisses me off when I'm a dope and forget to save file often | .

As for the computer I use that's connected to the net, it's windows and now I've messed up I guess because I uninstalled it and then when I tried to reinstall it the disk won't respond to install PhotoShop. [stuned] Not my day. And then I found out that it deleted some kind of file PM needed because it's not showing everything it should. Maybe I should take a nap.

I'm just gonna rely on my laptop and see what I can do with this new error. Probably it doesn't have enough ram to render and overloads or something. I'll just learn have to compulsively save my work.
I'm working on something I can't wait to post. So bye for now. Thanks for all the help so far. Maybe I'm in over my head.
