starting as palace. have about 3.5m to spend. want to get a great solid centre back and a pacey striker and maybe a winger who can play both sides. preferably all british. got some ideas, good enough...

I've always thought that all Championship discussion should be in the one thread

Out of interest, do people actually have the full copy of FM08? Or are all the FM08 threads being started because the demo has been released?

I started with 2 million pounds at Palace and must say I had trouble attracting good players. Aaritalo, the star winger/striker from Finnish side Turun, cost me 500,000 in the end. I picked up Raymond Kalla (DC) and Trabelsi (DR) on frees as well as the Bulgarian keeper Zdravkov, because the team report said keeping was the team's weak spot. I was also unimpressed by the midfield, especially Soares and Watson, so I signed Argentine DM Almeyda on a free and also brought in a couple of loan MCs (whose names escape me). At home I play an attacking 4-4-2 and away a cautious 4-3-3 and early on in the season I'm doing well enough, sitting in 7th place.

I also bought Doudin, who is my top scorer. Five games in I've racked up four wins and a draw and am in third.

Well, got my copy today and already started my Norwich game.

As per my demo game, I've decided to sell on Mark Fotheringham, Lee Croft, Gary Doherty and Chris Brown. All those only raise barely £200k in sales, but save me a small fortune on wages.

In coming is once again James Keene from Elfsborg. Having practiced lots on the demo, I've got them down to a £350k deal with 50% sell on clause. A bargain, IMO. I also lost out on David Thompson to Southampton; something I'm not overly concerned with as I'm taking a different approach in the full game concerning my tactics than I did in the demo and he could well be a surplus player.

I've got bids in for Peter Clarke at Southend and have found two or three gems I want to have a little play around with before I reveal.

How's everyone else's games started?

As no-one has been brave enough to volunteer themselves as plymouth. i will gladly step up and have a go.
i have always tried Plymouth because they are always a challenge. this year seems no exception.
More to follow when i start in the morning!
