Valencia CF are one of the most successful Spanish clubs and in recent years have firmly established themselves as the "third club" of Spain after Barcalona and Real Madrid. They boast a quality team, sound finances and in 2009 will move into the 75,000 capacity Nou Mestalla. They are nicknames Los Che(s).
Your challenge is to turn this club with so much potential into the greatest team in Spain and Europe.

Recommended team (442 diamond)
Hildebrand
Miguel Helguera Albiol Moretti
Albelda
Joaquin Vicente
Silva
Villa Zigic
This is probably the best way to accomodate both Silva (who has been given incredible stats on 08) and Vicente. A flat 442 could work if you retrain Silva to MC.
Recommended Transfers
- A left back is probably necessary since Del Horno is on loan for a year.
- A centre back perhaps to partner Albiol.

I have gone with the following on the demo (may start a new game once I get full version and patch to run alongside my Blackburn one):
Transfers In:
Timothee Atouba - 8mil
Vincent Kompany - 15mil
Christian Poulson - 7mil
Transfers Out:
David Silva to Arsenal - 22.5 mil
I sold Silva because I didn't want to play a diamond and Vicente is one of my favourite players. A lot of teams wanted him too. I wanted to try something I have done before so I went with a 442 with two DM's (4-2-2-2).
Hidebrand
Miguel Kompany Albiol Atouba
Poulson Albelda
Joaquin Vicente
Villa Zigic
Haven't done much so far:
Barcalona home won 2-1
Recreativo away lost 1-0

I always enjoy going Valencia, so I'll definitely go them at some point when the game comes out. You shouldn't have sold Silva though, he was quality on 07 and looks even better now, much better than Vicente imo.

Is Silva not an AM RLC? No need to retrain him then...play him in CM with an arrow forward in a flat 4-4-2
A new CB is not needed...Albiol, Alexis, Helguera & Marchena are more than adequate, IMO, only Barca and RM have better
I would look to sell Caniera and buy an LB and a RB
My problem is that they are all only adequate (except Albiol) and think the team could do with someone better.
I wouldn't sell Caneira either because having someone who can play across the back four on the bench is invaluable if someone gets injured. He's decent enough.
You could play Silva with a farrow, though he may be a liability defensively at CM without some training - either way he certainly doesn't fit into my 4-2-2-2 (sadly). Earned me some good cash though....

This is all true - I just love Vicente. There are just some players I can't bring myself round to selling.

Only Adequate?...if you say so...
Only RM, Barca, Inter and Milan have better defences IMO...i think your being too critical of them

No matter what you do, you make Silva fit into your system
Really, he's probably the best player Valencia have (maybe behind Villa), and not using him (or selling him for 22 mio) is just insane.
Statswise, he's one of the best wings - if not players - on the game.

I've always wanted to start a game with Valencia but have never got around to it.
Until now.
First thing I notice is what an awesome squad there is. If you like to pummel teams with world-class wingers and bully defences with big target men (like I do!) then this is the club for you.
Only drawback is the ridiculously small transfer budget (£700k). It can be easily increased as the likes of Villa, Silva and Joaqu*n always attract big-money offers but I don't want to resort to that, so I'm not making much of a change to the starting squad. My main plan is to be successful and so bringing in the money for some good spending next season, as Spanish clubs always seems to have a habit of increasing in value pretty quickly. For now, the squad should be good enough to hold its own.
Only transfers in have been Ignashevich (free) and Aaritalo (£300k).
I'm using a fairly agressive 4-1-3-2 formation, with my first choice XI being:
GK: Canizares
RB: Miguel
LB: Moretti
CB: Raul Albiol
CB: Helguera
CM: Albelda
AMC: Silva
RW: Joaquin
LW: Vicente
ST: Villa
ST: Morientes
Pre-season is going very well, with the following results:
Benevento 1 - 4 Valencia
Salernitana 0 - 4 Valencia
Treviso 0 - 2 Valencia
Mouscron 0 - 5 Valencia
Next up is Rosenborg away in the Champions League qualifier first leg.
With the squad I have, I'm looking for a 3rd place finish in the league and hopefully a place the Champions League semis.

You can bump up the transfer budget by a fair bit, 7m is the most appropiate to increase it by.
Silva is simply awesome in this game, I had huge offers for Vicente and Silva, probably going to move Silva into AMC now but I used to play with Fernandes and Albelda in CM and Silva/Vicente at LW.
