My point exactly. Impressive match engine on the offensive side of things. It's actually possible to play somewhat like Barca IRL. Touré physically MUCH underrated though...

Transfer budget too low??!? You know you can adjust the budget yourself right? By lowering the wage budget, I believe u can get close to 30 million €!!! Besides... there's not great a need for transfers other than a DR and perhaps a couple of 3rd choice backups.
Adjust the budget??? Oh, that's right...now I have to try that....starting over. Maybe I can get Dani Alves for right back?!Who else is good there?

Dont know yet... I've bought Francois Clerc from Lyon to backup Zambrotta. He also plays AMR, and is really looking good on the ball...

Well, I started new game and adjusted the budget. The max was at 72 mil. US dollars so I took it. I bought Zaccardo(DRC)-20M, Lorik Cana(DM)-13,5M, Derek Boateng(MC)-1,1M and Belluschi(AMRC)-18M.
I'm just before my first of four frendlies. My planned starting line-up:

GK-Valdez
DR-Zambrotta
DL-Abidal
DCR-Zaccardo (until Puyol gets back)
DCL-Millito
DM-Cana
MCR-Iniesta/Deco
MCL-Xavi/Deco
AMR-MESSI(DONNA) the GOD
AML-Ronni
FC-Eto'o/Henry

I'll report later when I've played a little bit more.BTW, I can't wait for the full release so I can start proper game with Barca. There are some young gems like Breno and Menez that I would buy. Also interested to see how Giovanni and Bojan would develop!
Adios amigos!

I had to use Giovanni for 4-5 games in a row as AML due to injuries... He's got potential!!! Scored two (one from a beautiful breakthrough on the edge of the box, much similar to Messi's real-life goal this weekend against Atletico), and played just brilliant!

never done a barca save on any fm or champ man, so decided to give it ago. I'm enjoying it at the mo playing a 433, picked up marcelo for 5.5m and zapater for 7 but i keep conceding goals, was hammering valencia for example 3-1 and villa rounds of a hat trick to make it 3-3 with like 2 mins to go. proper barca i suppose tho score goals and dont care bout conceding.

Just started a barca gmae. Usually I always go with arsenal, but I decided to try something new. I have always used a 3cb lineup in FM, but I still want to keep somewhat true to the barca style with the singer striker up top. The team starts off pretty well as far as attacking options go, stacked in the middle, could use some back-ups on the wings. The problem at the beginning for me is the defense. Playing 3 cb makes you need two things: CB who can jump(no wide backs means lots of crosses) and 2 DM to tidy things up in the back. Both things are lacking with Puyol being out, and edmilson being the only real DM and not getting any younger. Yaya should be a great DM but as everybody says he got robbed in 08. So heres my lineup for now...might start a new one when the patch comes out.

GK: Valdes
CB:Milito
CB:Marquez
CB:Zambrotta(selling, here because of INJ)
DMC:Toure(working DM)
DMC:Xavi(deep playmaker)
MC: Iniesta
AMR:Messi
AML:Ronnie
FC:Henry (eto'o)

Bought Zapata and Veloso to help with CB and DM duties. How is everybody setting up the big three up front? Right now I have ronnie and messi with full FWR, RWB, then mixed on everything else with a 17 mentality and medium CF(Should I give them more CF?) and then the ST I have 20 ment. with medium CF and then full FWR, RWB, mixed LS, then rarly on everything else. Anybody have a better set up for the front?

I use a different setup for the front three.
My ST is on low mentality (around first notch of normal) and high CF, to come deep and join the build-up, but still allowing him to run into whatever position he finds good for a ie deep pass. The wingers are kept on a so-so tight leash to keep the game wide. They have attacking mentality (around 4-5 notches from max), but only low or medium cf to prevent them from straying too far away from the sideline.

So most of the time in my buildup, the front three is on-line with each other because of the ST's low ment. and the wingers' high ment. Then the striker makes a run to either side, supporting the winger with ball, thus opening the middle for a forward run by Deco or Iniesta... Looks great!

What about the FWR and RWB? I have them at often, but the ST is not really dominating like he should. Most of my goals come from the midfield...deco is KILLING!

Agreed. Deco is awesome this time 'round!!!

Anyway, FWR and RWB are on mixed by default. I try to alter these settings individually during a match if needed. However, the wingers at Barca are smart enough to know when to dribble, pass, try TB, or what-not, as long as they're on mixed.

But if they run into a really weak opp. on the fullback pos. I set them on RWB full. I never have them on crossing. Always NO crossing for wingers, and mixed for WB's... I want a short passing game, with attacks starting from the wings, working inwards...
