I have a really funny animated gif I wanna remove the white background on, thus making it transparent.
The image is opened in Adobe ImageReady CS and I can see it contains 185 layers. I am a nOOb on Adobe ImageReady CS, but know a lot about Adobe Photoshop CS.
So I was wondering if someone could help me remove the white backgruond on this picture: Please explain so I can learn and do it myself. 3[

Selecting the white 185 times with the magic wand and pressing delete. Use a matte color that comes close to the target background. The faded frames and the shadows will be a problem on it's on, close to impossible to fix that.
A lot of work and the final result won't be what you expected.
I wouldn't give it a try even if someone paid me $100
That's my $0.02 | |

[bustagut] That is funny.
There are several steps to making this into a transparent GIF. The four most important palettes are the Animation, Optimize, Color Table, and 2-up just to see what is happening to a frame in your GIF. The most obscure action you have to take is to highlight all the frames in the Animation palette by clicking on the beginning and shift clicking on the last. Now right click (Control click on Mac) any one of the highlighted frames and choose Automatic. If you leave it at Do Not Dispose you will get an interesting but unwanted effect.
In the Optimize palette, select 32 colors web snap O%. I chose to set Dither at Diffusion and 100% because I thought that would make the smoothest image. In Transparency check the box and choose None for Matte. Again I chose Dither/Diffusion/100%.
Now go to the Color Table. There should be 32 colors showing. Highlight the white color by clicking on it and at the bottom of the palette click on the little transparency icon which will 'map' all the white to transparent. If you look at your 2-Up palette you can see that old Spiderman is now on a transparent background.
Your final step is to Save Optimized As...
It may be that if you are going to use this GIF on a darker colored background, you may wish to remap one or two of the lighter shades to transparent too. Experimentation is in order there.
Good Luck! Here's my result...

Say JallaBalla, can you tell us anything about the origin of that GIF. It is a marvelous piece of artwork.
