Default Footballers wages

To be honest, what that guy said about wages of players is spot on. Fair enough, the better paid players are there not only to provide success but a profit at some stage, but to command £150k a week, that's nuts. A guy who works out on oil rigs is making Shell billions of pounds (trillions of dollars) (gizilians of Yen) (65 Euros) a year, and you think he on £150k a year, never mind a week. Players of course, will take what they are getting paid, in my books, no one on this planet is worth that amount of money a week, so... in the end, the players should not be getting what they are, but who is gonna be brave enough to tell them no...?

No club is brave enough to start with a wage cap. Their players will just exodus to the other 19 clubs still paying full wages. There is no chance of everybody uniting.

I have very little respect for polaticians who moralise on what people should or do earn. These are the same people who vote themselves a big fat pay rise every year and just voted themselves even more holidays

True, but the point is still fair enough, no matter who says it

Think about it this way. Would chairmen pay players the amount they ask for if it would make them lose money? No! Football is one of the biggest markets in the world, and having successful players in your team means more success, which means more fans and more money. Say Chelsea get 1,000,000 new fans in America because of their pre-season tour over there, and they each buy a shirt at £35 - that's £35,000,000 going to Adidas, a substantial amount of which will go to Chelsea. Say Chelsea make £10,000,000 of that £35,000,000 - that means just from those 1,000,000 fans (and you know that there are billions of football fans in the world) - they've made enough to pay a player that £150,000 a week. Chairmen are not stupid, most are business men and if a player wants a wage that is big, the chairman will assess if it can be profitable, and if it is, they will pay it. If these players don't get paid so much, then the chairmen will just get richer so really it's either the players or the chairmen getting richer.
