Chelsea's transfers have been quite predictable so far which is fine... although most of us are used to the 'silly season' antics and enjoyable guess-games and fantasy lineups. Upon reflection our three freebies aren't a bad trio, rather a decent backup lot. Sidwell has a fighting spirit and has shown promise at Reading, Ben Haim is super professional and well composed whilst Pizarro... is supposed to be alright. Oh and Alex, whose much assumed transfer has gone bizarrely quiet recently.
However, getting backup players isn't difficult but getting first teamers is. We were lucky with Ballack as a free purchase but I don't think we'll be able to keep the wallet shut in bringing in a decent right back or with SWP or Robben likely to leave, a decent winger.
Dani Alves is the perfect choice as many would agree, THE first choice to replace the ineffectual Ferreira. Malouda, well, I'm not crazy about him, at 27 I can't imagine he offers much pace and hunger as other prospects but fair enough - I'm sure he's of the highest class and he seems to be mates with Drog which can only be a good thing.
These two players could come to around £30m together and as a sum comes beneath Man Utd, probably Liverpool who will surely buy more than just Torres and maybe Arsenal who will surely get their act together. So, it's still a respectable amount to have spent, placating the critics who claim Chelsea BUY success.
Does everyone feel Dani Alves and Malouda are the two likely last purchases and would they be happy for them to finish of the summer spending?
With the likely outs being: Boulahrouz, Geremi, Ferreira, Diarra (loan), SWP/Robben and possibly Makelele.
I dont understand why chelsea dont offer Khalid Boularouz and a few Million for Daniel Alves.
Boularouz is already in talks with sevilla and thats why he hasnt joined up with Chelsea in the United States.
Alves would be a good signing, and we dont really need boularouz, his preferred position is CB and we already have enough good ones and at RB we have Glen Johnson and Paolo Ferreria. not the strongest Right Backs in the world.
Malouda is great, im glad he's at chelsea, Robben is injury prone and it will be good to have both of them incase one of them gets Injured etc.
You havnt really got a decent right back at the moment, so Dani Alves looks very creditable. Chelsea havnt signed players for fun or big name players this season yet next season will be there strongest squad yet, as they have decent back-up when last season they didnt.
