Alright guys and girls. There are some developments and major changes that will happen with soccer-art in this month. It will piss some people off, and others will get excited. I think that most will be excited, but who am I to judge?
We are in the process of developing a new website. There will be new sections, a new system, a complete and new look (very different than what we've had before), new gallery, and more. So that is the first big change, soccer-art v6.
However, this time around we didn't just want to change the soccer-art website like we did from v1 to v2 to v3 and so on. v6 will be a complete change of soccer-art and our policies. The forum that I'm posting on now will cease to exist in the near future. We are scrapping the soccer-art public forum.
"Whaaaaat?" you ask. Well it's true. We have said in the past that we value quality over quantity, as opposed to other sites that have sprung up over time. Therefore we will put out v6 with a private invite-only forum that can be accessed only if you have a username made for you by an administrator. But we aren't just closing this forum and opening a new one that is just the same but shut off from new people. We are switching the forum software completely from vbulletin to something else. It will not be ipb, phpbb or any other commercial over-used script that you see on every single site. We are going to be using something a bit more dynamic, easy to customise and created for discussion more than anything else. So, the new forum will have a completely different look, it will be a completely different system, and we will have a completely different way of interacting between staff and members. Since the people on the new forum will be only those that have proven to be active and essential members of this forum, you can count on more trust, more help, and more interaction and opportunity to learn between all of us. There will be a lot more resources available to the users, and a large number of other sharing of files that is impossible to carry out on this forum due to its public nature.
Call this summer cleaning, call it revamp, call it rebirth or call it madness. Whatever you decide to call it, just hang in there because there is a good chance that you will be invited on the new forum. We will have an application form as well for those that are not invited initially, and so new people can always apply for membership and be accepted by a forum review board of some sort.
Anyways, soccer-art will become a lot more exclusive and we will be worried ONLY about quality from now on, and not quantity at all. We want our community to be a true COMMUNITY, not just some big numbers at the bottom of the page that say: hey! we're a big forum!
That is all the news I have for you guys at this time. I am looking through different people and figuring out who the active members are and who to invite to the initial opening of the forum. You will get a PM from me through this month if you've proven to us that you want to contribute to soccer-art in some way or another. It will not just be about the number of posts someone has.
All I can say is that you'll find soccer-art v6 to be an overall better environment to further your artistic ability and a much more enjoyable site to be on. Everyone on here is growing up, so soccer-art needs to grow up as well.
So from what i understand you will invite only people who are good at doing stuff (walls, sigs, icons ..) ?? Or maybe I'm mistaking ?
And no it won't be just people who are good at making stuff. We don't have any criteria for picking people. We will definately look at the most active people first and invite the top 100 posters or so. Then we will look at newer people and their work. I'm asking all the GA's to nominate people who they think are just cool and want around. And after that, you can nominate people you want on the forum in a category on the new forum. So it's not a dead end.
I said this in the staff room also to everyone, but I won't be inviting people like this guy: mgfx user title: FA > SA Everytime. Who we invite can be artists on any other site.. but I was looking for active members and work and posts and I saw his user title.. so just to spite him, he won't be on v6 so he can keep enjoying FA.
And by the way, Benit is making an AMAZING design for v6, it's almost done, and it looks fresh.
Ah.. and also guess what? No more freaking ads on the forum .
So are you saying if we post on FA or staff on FA (or any other site) we won't be invite back? Because I use both equal and sometimes remove link from my work.
No it's fine if you post on footyarts. We don't care. But that guy put the little line in his user title to piss us off. So he did piss me off when I was looking for people to invite. All that said to me was: "I don't like this site, but I come here to take resources and whatever else and then fuck off to FA." I don't want people like that on the v6 forum. That's all.
That's my only criteria: can't be anti-soccer-art.
I think that this idea is so cool it will make the new forum more dinamic and exclusive, i cant understand that threads of GD gets at least 5 post :S and that post says... nice work KIU... only spamming, a lot of members only rip ideas of the GD... and get stuff.. i think that this is a great idea, and i hope that i can take part of this new community
I just get home from my holidays and see this, i know that i won't be invited there, but this is if you ask me really the best thing, forum will be more active and that, i stop post my works here just for that reason cuz nobody comment my work only spamming, i know that my work isn't the best but i'm tryin and this is the best way, really great idea, ...
