way way way over simplified. I would consider doing some serious research on these forums and on google to get a better understanding of the differences and uses of each.
In response, most inkjets use C, M, Y, and K inks.. but they use RGB files. You gave a good rule of thumb though, CMYK
files are generally reserved for professional printing presses.
My rule of thumb for beginnerrs is if you don't know the difference work in RGB until you do.

If you need to do some kind of press work, then the printing house needs to tell you exactly what settings to use.
