McCabe just keeps saying he’s going to win the arbitration and, if he doesn’t, the matter will not rest there.
At what point are Sheffield United going to start preparing for the season ahead – but that in The Championship or, as now seems increasingly likely, The Premiership?
So far, it's been Sean Bean grabbing all the headlines rather than Bryan Robson.
Is this the way it should be?
How about a few high profile signings to give the fan's hope that they won't get tonked week in, week out in either of these demanding leagues?
So in general terms, I think you have to chose whether it is the fair play thing you are taking forward, or not.
And if Sheffield United were offered even a small amount of compensation (say £25m - half of what some fans have called for), they would be others who say that their silence has been bought, or that they have held the football authorities to ransom and have done very nicely out of it, thank you...
The reason I think that the Tevez contract is no big deal is that the offending clause was never enacted, and so how could a 3rd party be influencing the outcome of a single match? I think there is greater cause for concern over this Steve Kabba who - according to Sheffield United's own website - could not be played against them by virtue of the contracted terms of his loan to Watford.
Perhaps that is another issue, but one which does not cast Sheffield United in a great light if they are in any way tarnished by the behaviours that they see fit to expose in others.
I think that United's actions are making a benchmark for the future, in that clubs will be sniffing around for any dirt on other clubs, to benefit, and there will be tribunals, arbitrations and what not left, right and centre. McCabe should be fined for bringing the game into disrepute in my opinion.
This European Court thing is just a red herring. McCabe's last throw of a desperate dice so to speak.
The British Government are aware that signing the European Charter on Human Rights was a mistake. I’d be surprised if that legislation was not ditched by the next Home Secretary because of it’s usefulness to known terrorists as a way of avoiding deportation from the UK.
I really wouldn’t hold out too much hope that human rights have been breached by Sheffield United’s relegation…
