Cant for the life of me think how to do this

Have recieved and eps file all in black of a phoenix want to change some of the colours to that of a flame reds yellows oranges the flame effect is already there but in black, help if you can or is there a way to add a flame effect over the eps file im sure i can do that but not sure about the flame. would be using it on a website and probably not letterheads etc

The only thing I can think of is to use the airbrush tool, on a new layer, and paint in the flames. Maybe use Adobe Illustrator to color it.

There is a fire tut on another forum (PST), but the flames are made to look real. It wouldn't fit in with the design you have.

Thanks for the reply thought it must have been a daft question.
spotted the fire design and am going to change the logo to incorporate it as it really is such an effective fire design, probably using the company name with the flame
