HOWDY! 8))

I have been visiting this forum for awhile now, in an effort to better my skills with PS. I've been using CorelDraw & Corel PhotoPaint for years with minimal expirence with PS. Well....I kinda like PS MUCH better (go figure) but I am really struggling with it. I am basically self taught on the 'puter and the graphic programs, and I am slowly running out of patience!! [confused] I know that PS does everything that Corel does (and then some), but the terminology throws me off some. Does ANYONE have any advice, or possibly know where I can find some "Photoshop for Idiots" tutorials?

I will keep reading here.....y'all are a WEALTH of information!! :}

TIA

Well... My advice would be to come up with some projects to do, then try to do them with Photoshop. When you get stuck, refer to the manual/help files. If that doesn't do it, try doing a google and/or forum search for what you're trying to accomplish. If you still are stuck, then come on in and post a question about your specific problem. We're always glad to help.

There aren't a whole lot of "how does photoshop work" type tutorials online, since most people pretty much expect you to have read through the manual and know at least a little about the program. If you need something super basic, I would suggest picking up a copy of Photoshop Classroom in a Book. It's a great, project based, beginner's guide that walks through most of the features of photoshop.

Hope that helps somewhat. As I said, if you're stuck on something specific, post a question!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Photoshop.

Hey Tia,
Go onto Google and type Photoshop tutorials and you will find more than you have time to learn.

Good luck,

One place to start is right here at Photoshop Guru's Handbook. Mark has put together some tutorials which he considers for beginners.

That suggestion of the 'Adobe Classroom in a Book' is a good one. There is a good likelihood that you could find a used copy for PS 6 on eBay or some other used book store or online sales. In fact, I just checked and there are several listed on eBay currently (with no bids yet for the PS6 ones). Here's one sample...

Cheers!

Thanks bunches! I guess I need to just dig deep and find some patience. :{ I do know the basics on photo editing, thats about the extent of my expirence tho. I'll just keep on reading here, so far this forum has been the easiest for me to understand of all the places I have looked.

Thanks again.....I'm sure I'll have more silly, stoopid and goofy questioins soon!!

DestnyMyne, Hi.

I've recently jumped ship from Corels Photopaint to Photoshop and likewise had a few initial frustrations.

I can assure however, it is no more dificult to use than PP. The main stumbling block initially is the different naming conventions. For example Corels Masks are Adobes Selections.

Once you get the new terminology in your head, and learn the different method approaches, it really is a better program in my opinion. Just post here when you hit a stumbling block and you should recieve good advice.
