Now we all hate the close season so here's an idea and I think that Sky Sports et al would definitely take it up if it were ever happen.
Top 4 Clubs in England, Scotland, N.Ireland and Wales entering their youth teams into a British Cup. Four groups with a teams from each nation, top two progress into a straight knockout.
There is already a format at international level so why not at club level? I think it would give youth players a chance to develope. Much emphasis is given to the fact that we can never have a British league because of all the complications and banalities, so why not a tournament to fill our "void" summers?
Tickets could be given out to schools etc and I think it would attract major sponsorship which would pay for the tournament outright and perhaps give revenue to youth developement.
Something like this has happened before I think it was called the Corination Cup and Celtic won it but I dont think it was every top team in the 4 Countries in Britain that were in it only 4 from Scotland and England. Celtic beat Chelsea in the final 4-1. BTW this was in the 50's or something.
