After all the problems that have surfaced with firstly the Abgonlahor fiasco then the David Bentley debacle, the nation has turned their backs on these players, albeit mainly aimed at Bentley.
Whether you agree with the decisions of the player, is not the topic of this thread, there have been enough posts about Bentley is a disgrace and Bentley should never play for England again.
This one is about Pearce, there is an interesting article in the Daily Mirror today concerning David Bentley and comments made by Pearce when in charge at Manchester City concerning Micah Richards.
Its one I for one forgot about, Pearce expressed concerns about Richards facing burnout, saying 'he should put himself first, then his club, then his country.'
Im sorry but what makes this different? What because now Pearce is u21 manager? He wants his own players to put themselves and the club before country, but when someone else does it, he spits feathers.
Sorry Stuart, but in my eyes, youve made yourself look a complete donkey on this one.
It was David Bentley's timing that caused the reaction , I am sure no manager enjoys the withdrawal of a any player and certainly not at the last minute!
Do I have to post this in every Bentley related topic, Pearce knew weeks ago that Bentley had concerns over fatigue, Hughes told him not to include him 48 hrs before he picked his squad and Stuart IGNORED him.
Its the media again asking loaded questions. They didn't ask him if he had spoken with the lads manager or the player.Bentley was on Talk Sport talking with Parry and Andy Townsend and he refuted the media twist and said he had spoken with his manager who then spoke to Pearce and told him Bentley was clinically fatigued and as such needed a rest.
Pearce "allegedly" said he would let the las have a few days to see if he was feeling any better, Bentley knows he has let the side down but refutes its a last minute thing.
Maggot press again... Pearce wasn't going to admit he knew the player was likely to pull out was he....Probably got the same PR advice as MacLoser had about handling Beckham's dropping from the England team.
Someone in the FA is giving these guys very bad advice but hey ho, no change there...
The thing is Pearce has made this worse than it could have been. If he hadn’t come out and gone on about “his day”, other players like Milner etc and just said “It’s disappointing but I understand his reasons” then Bentley wouldn’t have gotten the crap he’s getting now from (most probably Spurs) fans, Pearce would have looked like a man and not a spoiled child who’s just been told his best friend can’t come for tea and everyone would have been happy.
