Jpeg is already compressed and much data is already discarded. Zipping them, or rarring or sitting won't help much anymore. And when you reduce the size in Photoshop and save again as jpg, the quality will inevitably go down the drain even further.

Which is why it is best to save as RAW. If possible.

How "large" is large for you?

Default I have no problem with the size. But the people I am sending
digital photos to don't have large enough mailboxes to receive 4 pictures.
