MHO
The image is a bit small. It's hard to see/feel the 3D effect...sorry. The reflection seems a bit odd. Compress the height of the reflection to match the perspective of the text better.

The ground looks like cloth with and folds and stuff. If that was your intention the the reflection should follow the up's and down's. Just a thought

You know, you're right! I didn't think of that when I did it, I just wanted to prove a point with this! I just leafed through the tutes here at the site, found one that seemed simple to use (for beginners) and did something! It wasn't meant to be mind blowing -- just an example of following a tutorial on this site!

But yes, I probably should change the wavey pattern to one of a solid steel decking! OR change the reflection text to better suit the wavey pattern! [righton]

I took your suggestion and worked with it.

I think you'll like the new version better. [righton] [confused]

Yep I do One thing though. The shadow would probably have quite sharp edges near the object (the text) and get more blurred as it moves away from the text. That would help the text to "land" if you see what I mean. It is kind of hovering above the surface right now. To make it even better you could try to make the cloth cover the base of the text at some spots.

I made an image a few months ago to show a shadow fading. It has a lot of errors when it comes to the light which I haven't had the time to correct. It's not really important either since the main object was to show the shadow.

Here's another perfect example of using a tutorial that you can find here at PSG!! Thanx to the Keeper for this tutorial [righton] -- it has for the time being, given me the ability to create "3D" spheres! That is until I figure out how to use a 3D rendering program!

I still have some tweaking to do to the background, but it serves as a great example to what you can do with PS with the proper tutes!

Here is the link to this tute, and Enjoy!!

As usual, I agree with Klaatu's answer:
Quote:
Summary: In truth, we are all students... just at different levels.
In fact,? Klaatu is a good example --He is at the highest level yet he always takes time to help a newbie member in need. [righton]

Here's my suggestion: Since a forum community is comprised of many users, if you don't want to answer the question or consider it a stupid question - just SKIP IT and allow those who want to help newbies answer.? In many cases beginners are confused about the buzz words and need a few suggestions on what to input to make a successful search.

I've noticed most newbies catch on pretty quick actually.? Most are sincere.

The only questions I avoid are from people who aren't earnest learners and just want free artwork done for them.? I? pass those without comment -- they get the picture pretty quickly. *pun intended*? I don't see a need to insult them.

If you are member who becomes impatiently rude to newbies, be sure you are speaking for yourself and not the guru community.? If I notice someone using the "we" form to insult, I will publically apologize on your behalf. 8))
