Hi ricib.

I use it quite often. It's sort of a standard here for layout work- mostly on brochures, reports and posters.

One question - How's version 11 or is it 12 now? I was away from graphics for almost half a year. I'm still stuck on 9 (would you believe it) . I didn't take 10 coz of the reviews ( ya know- the odd-even thing).

Thanks Vee and Rick!

XaraX was the first digital art ap I tried using... Whew! [confused] Talk about a departure from the more natural "paint" approach. It was a weird one to start out with, but eventually I got the hang of it, and now, even though XaraX at present is a bit buggy (mostly if you try using elaborate brushes it wants to crash), it is still way easier to do vector work in than PS. The tools it has and the set up make it so much faster. Hopefully, there will be an upgrade to this ap in the near future, but I still like using it for certain things. I used it recently for making a logo for a veterinarian to be applied to a mobile veterinary van he is having built in Ohio. The company supplies all the lettering so I supplied the logo design as per his design wishes. Xara was great for making something simple this way which could be enlarged to 24 inches in diameter. Here's a small sample of the graphic (he is a avian/bird specialist primarily).

Corel bought Xara because they were interested in its unbelievable transparancy options. Xara needs as good as no space, an old-fashioned puter is more than enough for it, and it is quite stable. For me too, it was the first app I bought in the Compaq days (got Coreldraw 8 for free, but the CD didn't work, and Corel refused to help.
So I got Xara because I visited Designer.comand a Gary Priester was showing such incredible results with it that I couldn't resist.
Although I don't use it often nowadays, I'm still glad I have it and can use it . Which is why I never learned PS' vector options... [saywhat]

Erik, I may be wrong.... but I feel that the PS vector option is quite different from Corel's true vector line drawings. If you zoom up close to PS line drawing, it's pixelated whereas Corel's lines stay true at maximum magnification (uhhhh... actually it becomes sort of jagged). I don't know... maybe it's the way PS and corel displays it's pixels.

But the final output ( be it home printer or service bureau print ) shows optimum clarity on a Corel vector graphic.

I guess that's on reason why Xara is great for web graphics.
