Default Help with Photoshop problem

Recently, the tool selection bar in my Photoshop 7.0 has started something weird. It used to be, you could click on the tool and in order to get the hidden tools for that tool, you had to rest the mouse pointer on that box for a couple seconds. Now, whenever I click on any of the tools, it automatically brings up all the hidden menus. How do I make it stop doing this?

Thanks

Usually, if you hovered over a tool you would see the tool name (Tool Tip) appear. This can be turned on / off in the preferences.

If you click on a tool it should only select the available (visible) tool.
If you click and hold, the extra tools appear in the fly-out.

I can only assume that you are holding slightly too long after clicking.
Try just a short click & release.

Al.

If all else fails, reset your preferences...
That eliminates many Photoshop "gremlins" that start doing weird things from time to time...

I would tend to aggre with MsOz on this.

But bear in mind too that i've seen this type of issue created from bad mouse drivers. If you recently updated those, think about reverting back until the next set of drivers is released.

I've seen this before in another scenario....

If you right click (ctrl click on mac) on a tool it immediately pops up in photoshop rather than doing the click/hold routine. Maybe you've accidentally hit the other button? It's getting stuck? Your mouse software is being weird? You're on a mac and the ctrl key is stuck down/being leaned on? Check it out. It's a possability.

Otherwise, I'd say tweaked prefs.

Default Thanks

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone.

Nope - I'm not double clicking, I haven't replaced any mouse drivers, and it happens regardless of which button I push. How do I reset the preferences? The only thing I found under the Preferences menu that had to do with resetting was for the warning dialogues. If all else fails, I suppose I could just reinstall the program.

Krock: You didn't mention what OS your using so..... \:]
I'll assume your running XP, you will NOT reset your Prefs, You will Delete your Prefs, then when you reopen PS7 it will automatically give you their default Prefs [righton]
