Well, the (previous) owner was clearly from a region called "Limburg", which is not very far from the Rhineland, and many Gallo-Roman things have been found there, so one never knows. And the conglomerate stone is also found in that region.
When I look at the pose, and seen the size, it could have been a toy, otoh, I suppose the core will be metal, and I cannot imagine copper toys.
Bizarre...
I'll keep you informed.
Let's hope that after cleaning I'm not met with a "Made in Singapore" or something like that...
[bustagut] [bustagut] [bustagut] I knew it!!! I thought "Meg" looked a bit Poser-like especially around the toes [bustagut] and I've never seen that much crud caked on a statue yet have the fine detail of things such as the toes/nails look so "new"....naughty naughty Erik! hahahahahaha!!!! [bustagut]
---Maya---the Raven knew!
Meg *was* a hint as it's the name of the Zygote woman that comes with Cinema8.
I feel a bit embarassed though as it was not my intention to hurt people's feelings.
Just one of those practical jokes...
(when the phone rings, I often start with: "Buckingham Palace, commander Heselthine, what can I do for you?" Most people keep silent for a few saconds, and then, hesitatingly ask"Erik...is that you??? [bustagut] [bustagut] )
[bustagut] [bustagut] Ahhh, don't feel bad Erik....hehe. Yeah, from the corroded statues I've seen and the way most metals and stones age, it would be unlikely that the uncovered portions wouldn't have corroded to some degree also---especially with that amount of weathering and caked on crud...but also in the image something wasn't quite right about the shadowing and texture....plus the background..... now, if you'd placed the statue in more a a typical just "sitting on a tabletop or counter" with more shadows from it and around it that might have carried the farce a bit further....and then if those toes weren't exposed so much and looked a bit weathered as well it would have worked a bit further.... hehe yes, Stu warned me of your "Flemish sense of humor." Nice try Erik! ...but now everyone is "on to you" hahaha!
P.S. as for the phone answering I always like to start out "Russian Embassy" with a distinct and stern accent....it always causes confusion..... and then a favorite around Halloween--- "Morrison's Morturary, you stab 'em we slab 'em!" hehe......
