A bunch of images created most likely in a 3d program or stop motion photography, all combined into one image, with accompanying layers of generated shadows for each image in the sequence.

Ms Oz is right, of course: The photographer used a camera on a tripod that is controlled by a timer. The camera took a sequence of photos that have been composited together, using the clone stamp tool, or just selections/layer masks...
