Default Adding Registered Symbol to the Logo

Dear All,

I would be appreciate if someone could help me with this problem.

I want to add Registered symbol to my logo.
My document size is w=3.85, h=3.29. I typed the symbol with size 9pt, faux italic and set-anti alias methode using smooth.

In the browser, I cant see anything, it is too small.
I would like my logo appears Microsoft or Netscape Logo.(e.g. http://www.netscape.com, http://support.microsoft.com/)
Their Registered Symbol looks fine 9at least i can see that is "R" )

Please help me

Thanks a lot in advance [righton]

Can you post an example of a piece of work with the "R"? I usually use 50% grey with drop shadow and bevel. Then change the opp to 50% and it looks somewhat transparent.

I run 1600x1200 screen sizes on my systems so I don't see the "R" for the sites you listed even though I know they are there. Unless you have a trade name that is registered then maybe you will want to use the copyright symbol for your work. I am sure we can help if we can see an example of your work.

Default Adding Registered Symbol to the Logo

Hi Lindaw,

I post my own name with the same size as the logo that I work for the website. It is my company's logo which done by someone else, I am temporary shifted to that person's place.

It is very small. Thats why I am little bit worry about the "R". Myself also can't see that "R".

One more question, the Register symbol will be the standard base for the logo. How to measure the excact location for the "R" and the size. I tend to change the place when I have to work in other format such as Illustrator. It is difficult to measure it (for me) and make it standard.

Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it :}

Welcome aboard Diella.

Just a suggestion, if you are having difficulty in positioning the make up of the logo.

(In Illustrator) Create a *master logo* but use the full size of an A4 to create the logo and position the ? or ? symbol.
When you need a specific size for a business card, just copy and paste the master and then scale it to required size.
The placement of the ? will then be more accurately positioned than trying to place it manually on the small scale.

Make up templates for the likes of letterheads, comp slips and cards using this master logo.

Default Adding Registered Symbol to the Logo

Hi Al,

thanks for the advice. I have done what you suggested, working in the Illustrator first as master logo, then copy, paste and scale it into the desired size. But, when it comes to the size that I have to work, which is w: 3.85 cm and h: 2.29 cm, still I can't see the "R".

I use also the logo (using the methode that you had mentioned), I copy and paste and resize it to match the canvas sized
w: 6.53 cm and h: 4.02 cm. It looks perfect.

I also tried several way to make it appear in the screen, but so far, I can't see anything. If I copy from illustrator and paste as path, it looks perfect in the beginning, and look disaster when I stroke it, or fill it.

Any other idea ??

Thanks a lot.

Diella Rescale the logo first, then copy & paste into Photoshop.
Also, if you are going to stroke the text, make sure that *Scale Stroke and Pattern Fills* is checked ON.

I would suggest try leaving the stroke set to 0, and use a Photoshop Style to add stroke or drop-shadow etc.

Could you maybe post up a couple of screen grabs of your stages.
That would help us figure out your problem.

??The ? isn't lying off the canvas and sitting on the Artboard, perchance??

Diella, Here is my LOGO?.

Original to size as stated above, created in Illustrator.
Text converted to outlines.

Then in Photoshop: (72 dpi for screen / web use)

Copied & pasted as Pixels.
Copied & pasted as Paths.
Path converted from work path, saved as Path.
Path selected and filled.
1 pixel Stroke and Drop Shadow applied via Styles.

Hi Al,

thank you so much for the clear explanation. You are really helpful!!. Yesterday, I was playing around with "R" for my tiny logo, and found the silly way to do that. I just type "R" using Arial font and size 4.2 pt, and type O using Book Antiqua font with size 9.8 pt. It looks better on the screen, at least it's not look like a bold dot as previously I've done .

I attach here both of the files for comparation, it doesn't look much different. I just a bit shy with my 'dirty' way to do that ;\ .

Thanks for sharing Al!!

Edit:

Diella, The font you are using may not be suitable for screen (72 dpi) use at that size. At 9pt the circle and R have only about 8 pixels to create the fills and spaces of the ?

Try using Verdana at 9pt to see what I mean. If you must use that specific font, increase the font size and turn the anti aliasing down or off.

You right Al,

it looks much better now. I didn't think that the choosing of font that we are using has an effect for the final result, especially for the small size logo.

Thanks for make me aware of this Al.

Merry Christmas for you, have a wonderful Christmas!! 8}
