With Momo close to extending his contract, Xabi's commited for another 5 years along with SG and Masch, we already have 4 top quality midfielders ( no matter what you say about Momo he is top quality ) does this signify the role Rafa intends for SG, to be constantly played out on the right, because we don't seem to be looking for another right winger to support Pennant.
With the news of an approach for Benayoun who plays central midfield, surely the picture Rafa is currently painting shows his intentions to play SG on the wing instead of where we would all prefer to see him play in the middle.
I have all the faith in the world with Rafa but surely he should now be creating a team that supports SG's best qualities, if we had another player of SG's capabilities on the right all the better, but we really need him to be played central for near on all of our games this year. Stats show we are more successful with Gerrard in the middle.

Where is Rafa going to play Steve Gerrard? Post #2
Stevie G's problem is that he is too good. He can play in any poistion and probably be the best player on the pitch. Though he plays well on wing everybody knows his best position is in the centre. Rafa obviously thinks this is best for the team dynamic or he thinks that they can't sign anybody better to play on the right hand side. I think he is also scared to drop Alonso and Masch because they play so well. The only problem liverpool have is too many good midfielders, is that really a problem?
