Hi all,
I used a line-shaped brush on a path to make a ribbon. I think it looks pretty ribbonish, but when I used 'angle fade' I got some unexpected Moire-like patterns. I'm not sure how to get rid of those.

Excellent Alias, I think the Moire pattern adds to the ribbon effect.

you did not just use a line shape, did you?

Hi all!
Excellent red ribbon for Christmas! Actually, I think that the moire patterning is dependent on the number of "strands" used in the original sine's number of repetitions, adjustable in the top "box". If the repetitions are too close, the moire patterning occurs.
Joy, in my efforts to explore AND understand, I'm pretty much sticking with the old "3,6,9,12" o'clock method of experimenting, so that I can fairly easily duplicate my results , and I get a bit more understanding by twirling a dial back and forth a few times to see how things change. This is SUCH a cool plug in...especially when you start applying layer styles to it! The 3D effects can be extremely fun!
Happy Holidays to everyone!
Ms.Oz

Mr. Blevins has some excellant material about anistropic reflections. Anistropic Reflections
It's for CG, but he makes very applicable observations.

Thanks Al, sPECtre and MsOz! sPECtre, I used a light (80% gray), 1 pixel line, with a single dark pixel at each end.
You are right about the aliasing. Increasing the spacing shows that only one side of each line is anti-aliased. MsOz, what do you mean by "the number of "strands" used in the original sine's number of repetitions, adjustable in the top "box"." I have no idea of what you are talking about. But that may well be caused by my lack of Photoshop experience. ;\
