I tried to stay closer of the "ribbons" post by Joy, using the technique that I explained in Rantin Al's other thread (repeat transform)

I created a vector layer, with a very pale rose (red with 2% fill) , and applied an inner glow (bright red, in multiply).

This is a very rushed example (less thatn 2 minutes)
make sure that you have the good options (create path and create new vector layer) in the option bar if you want to use repeat transform)

Joy, Starting, I think with PS6, you have the ability to use custom shapes (1) , they are limited by paths/vectors and are therefore very crisp. They can delimit adjustment layers, etc...
You see that you have vector data with the vertical line in the layers palette (2)
Vector layers is an abuse of language, sorry for the confusion, as I'm sure you know this already!

Joy, think along the lines of a mask on a layer, but using a vector path to define and manipulate the mask instead of painting pixels on the greyscale image.
You do not have partial transparency, it is a definite see / no see.

Pierre, your snapshot, glad we've got international icons. [bustagut]

Just had an idea. :B If it works I'll post it up. [slick]

hey, I did wrote the arrows and numbers in english

JOY, it is possible to get partial transparency with vectors, just by adding a layer mask... this way, one can even get closer of the sinedots ribbons

Default Ribbon Tutorials...??

Hey you guys! I got it ....almost! [bustagut] [bustagut] [bustagut] I have used all those tools and methods, I just never thought of them as vector but now that you tell me, I can see why the layers look like they do when using...omg *thunder bolt struck head* they are vector! It didn't even ever occur to me yesterday when I had to rasterize a line layer ... I can be soooooooo dense sometimes....just like the husband sez.

And, now I know PS was not hiding something from me. It was there all the time in plain sight.

Thanks, keep the commentary coming about those masks too, I think there is a technique I'm missing about 1/2 vector and grayscale huh?

[bustagut] Joy, Joy, I just knew this would happen.

OK, first off, check this out:

http://photoshopgurus.info/beginners...xplained.shtml

Don't panic, yet, just read through it.
This should give you an idea about channels.
A mask is just another channel. Look in the Channel palette when you add a mask. That's where it lives, not bothering anyone.

Instead of defining where the RGB goes, a mask channel defines the transparency / opacity. (But you already knew that! )

Read the tute and then come back with your conflumoxifications.

Then we'll move onto Vector Masks. :B [bustagut] [bustagut]
