Default Screen shot question

I have searched the files for instructions for creating screen shots with arrows and circles so they can be put on the forum or sent email and have not found what I was looking for. I asked a long time ago and can't find the answer. Can someone direct me there or tell me how to make and save a screen shot?
Thanks.
George

I guess my first question would be, are you using a Mac or a PC? I don't recall the key sequence on a Mac, but on a PC you can hit F13 (sometimes it will actually say "print screen" right on the key) and it will store place an image of everything on the in your clipboard. from there, open PS, select NEW (note that the size of the document will be the size of your monitor's resolution), and then PASTE. Viola! Hope that's the information you were looking for!

IrfanView is also a great little app for taking screenshots. You can check it out here:

http://www.irfanview.com/

I have used iView for quite a while and it's awesome. It's especially helpful when I'm doing tutorials and have to take a lot of screenshots.

OK. I downloaded the Irfanview. Now where do I go to find a tutorial that will show me how to use it? All I want to use it for is doing screen shots for tutorials like you are using it for.
Thanks.

Hi George,

Here's a link for some great IrfanView tutorials:

Let me know if you need anymore help, but I think you'll find most of what you need in these tutorials.

And welcome to the Forum

For doing bunches of screencaps, I use MWSnap. It's got more capping features than you can shake a joystick at.

Some of my favorite things about MWSnap:
- add a mouse pointer of your choice after the cap quick-n-easy like
- sequential cap dumping (of course)
- set a fixed area for cap dumping; this is, you can set the area once and then cap away from that area with a hotkey
- this cool little zoom thing that stays out of the way when setting an area

I give it 3 thumbs up.

Your welcome, George

IrfanView is the best image viewer out there. I'm sure you'll really like it. I mean, where else can you get all these features and not have to pay a dime?
