Default How do you creat crisp images for varying resolutions?

Hi,

Im creating a resume CD with 2 (indentical) versions., 1 for 800x600 resolution veiwers & the other for 1024x768 viewers. When I finished putting together my CD, I burned it, then test ran both files. I noticed that the 800x600 file viewed on a 800x600 rez screen looked great, but when I ran the 1024x768 file on a computer with that rez settings, the images didnt look as crisp & sharp (some where blurry) as the 800x600 file. I used the identical same images for both files. Most of the images where created in Photoshop7 at 800x600. Is there a way I can make the same images crisp for 1024x768 resoultion also?

Thank you

Did you take the 800x600 image and upsize it to 1024x768?

If that's the case, then it's normal that you lose quality.

Create your highest resolution file first and keep it as a psd file.
If you need a smaller version, resize by resampling in stages and again keep it as a psd file.

If you need to use the image for web graphics, save a copy or save for web as a jpg from the resized file.

You will always lose some quality by up-sampling.

Supposing you could acyually see the 1024 images without scrolling, their size was changed to fit 800. In that case, one out of five pixels was not displayed. This deteriorates viewing quality, but it has nothing to do with the file itself.

Otherwise, Josh and Al have given the answer.

If you need sharpening, you may want to read the chautauqua on sharpening on the tutorials forum.
