Default Healing Brush Smudging
When I am cleaning up a sketch, and I get too close to a line, the healing brush generates a smudge when I release the mouse button. Is there a setting to change that, or is it just the nature of the tool?

Default Healing Brush Smudging
When you release the mouse button, the Healing Brush Tool will modify the image by blending the newly imported portion with its surroundings. Perhaps what is happening is that you are overlapping a portion of the original image on top of the image you are working on.

Another general tip is to use a hard edged brush, not a soft one.
