I have an image that was externally colored this time, so if I use brightness/contrast adjustments to get rid of my background from the scan, the color wouldn't be preserved. On the colored sketch, I didn't like the tail, so I pasted in a new one from another, uncolored image. I have everything cleaned up except I need to color the tail. And it happens to be striped. Also, I want the color to emulate the colored pencil used in the original drawing. So I was hoping someone would know how to separate the stripes of the tail and the background and then perhaps healing brush in (or any other way get in) the purple color from the tail in the original into the new tail.
