No, he is raising a valid point. It seems that everyone is copying Onskin's 'original' (not any more) style. There's no problem with extracting concepts and ideas from someone's work, but copying it is just plain silly.
Fortunately you have executed it relatively well, good job. I must advise you don't directly copy people's ideas in the future, as you'll start to rely on them and become entirely unoriginal.
Onskin must be a very talented artist - his last style (mirror image of player, with flame in the middle) was 'ass-raped dude' as well.
