Yup, I'm asking for help already, lol. I've been trying to figure out where I went wrong with one of the posted tuts because something is not working right. The tut is located here and I keep getting stuck at the step where he says to "Center Marquee. Inverse the Selection and Delete. Do the same for the layer below so you should have two 450 x 450 px circles. Inverse the Selection. " OK, centering the marquee is no problem, but how do I invert the selection? How do I delete the inverse? And how do I make sure that the circles are 450 by 450 pixels? Thank you in advance!

btw, Moth, thank you for the tut, I really want to make a few of those!

Answer to your question for Jewel tutorial:

Go to selection and in fly menu you can see fixed size: enter numeric value in this case width 450 and high 450. (Picture 1.)

To invert the selection go to selection and in fly menu find Inverse (shortcut Ctrl+Shift+I for PC) and press delete on your keyboard. (Picture2)
