Okay, here I am- the ultimate n00b at graphics and I want my first attempt to be of a high standard. I've got my background, after about 20 minutes of tinkering, I've got my image but then I'm finding it difficult to;

1. Once I've put the lasso around the bit I want to keep, how do I commit so I can delete the rest?

2. Once this has been done and I have my render, how can I transfer it to my background? Remember, I'm a complete graphics n00b, so you're going to have to avoid vague instructions...please and thank you guys!

Ok this might not be the right way, but what I do is:

I take the bit I got, then I cut it (CTRL + x). Easy enough? Well then you can take the long way, or the short way.

Long: So you've cut it, then it's in your clipboard (but dont worry about that), you take the selection tool and click CTRL + A. Press delete and everything is gone. Click CTRL + V and it will be there. All you need to do is drag it to your background.

Short: So you've cut it, then it's in your clipboard (but dont worry about that), you paste it (CTRL + V) into the background and then move it around.

Sound good?
