Hi there,

I don't know if somebody looked already in my last topic but i would like to know how i can submit images or avatars. Everytime i try i get the answer that it's to big even if i make it REALLY small ?????

Hi petkum, welcome to the community.

There aren't a lot of rules about this subject.... just a few.

avatars must be maximum 75x75 pixels and no more than 10kb.

All other images, such as one posted in messages as examples, or in the "Show Board", ca be no larger than 150kb. And we'd like it if folks make the image no bigger than 600px wide, but 640 is acceptable sometimes also.

If your image must be larger than 600px or 150kb, then it's customary to use a text link to that image and store it on your own server space.

"Inline" linking to images residing on another Forum is not permitted. It's considered bad Netiquete, and the link will be immediately deactivated within the post.

well, this is exactly like i did but i just get the messages: "An Avatar cannot be bigger than..." or "An Image cannot..."

for example: the avatar that i would like to put is 57x54 pixels and has 9kb !!!??? why shouldn't it work with mine

Hmmm....ok try an experiment save a copy and reduce its file size by say another 3k and see if that uploads,you can change it again later

Post the image that you want to use for your avatar as an attachment and let us have a look at.

I've upLoaded a temporary avatar i made. That should now allow you to go in and change it to your own.

Let me know if you still have trouble though.

Your sizes are fine, and i don't know why you wouldn't be allowed to use your preferred avatar.

i just tried to put it again, but it tells me again that the file size cannot be bigger than 10 kb and it's really just 9kb???

If that's the Avatar that you want to post; it's 15,358 bytes (about 15Kb). It's too big.
Right click on the file and select properties; 15,358 bytes

And there's also something weird going on with that file.
It's 15kb, but once i open it in Photoshop and save it as a Jpeg (save for web) and max quality of 100, then it's suddenly only 2,655 bytes [stuned]

And quality 100 is not even necessary; a setting of 70 is sufficient and that makes the file only 1,620 bytes.

Maybe it was scaled down after PS using Irfanview or some other image viewer app? That would account for a large than original file size.

But Bluemonster is right, that jpg is over 15kb.
Open it in PS again and resave it using "Save for Web...".

Then try upLoading it again petkum. I think it'll all work out fine after that. [righton] :B
