Default Windows Vista vs Mac OSX

Okay so I have been seeing a lot of videos about the new Windows Vista and the new versions that they are bringing out. I took a little bit of time to think about how long this took Microsoft to make (5 years) and so I would expect a lot of new ideas and quality added to their operating system. I don't have Vista (because my PC sucks) and I do have OSX on my mac.

I' very very impressed by the OSX and I love it. I'm probably going to get a pc with vista towards the end of this year.. just to have it for a lot of applications, but I want to know what those that have it or have used it think of it. It costs 200 dollars to update from XP home edition to the Vista home edition. Kind of pricy.

A lot of people have been saying that vista ripps off the mac osx and uses a lot of the same versions. Here are some videos about it:

Vista did NOT ripp off the OSX as seen in the NY times (sarcasm warning):
http://youtube.com/watch?v=TaIUkwPybtM

Presentation of Vista:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=7Lh-AJS8sC8

The same video as above, but with a funny twist. They are explaining vista and showing it on the mac :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QdGt3ix2CQ

The many versions and problems with vista:

I think that the more they become like OS the better .. I love the mac.. and I don't really hold it against windows for duplicating a lot of apps because they were really falling behind. But we'll see how they'll do in the future.
Enjoy, and let me know what you think.

Not really just the design man.. the features. It's the user experience, user friendlyness, just makes so much more sense and feels like it actually thinks for me at times.

For example. When I download a photoshop brush, it automatically downloads it and installs it in my photoshop. If I download a zip file, it automatically unzipps it for me.. You can drag and drop things from the internet into software like itunes and photoshop, no other clicks needed. And I could go on forever. It has many neat features, the small nitty gritty stuff that microsoft always forgets.

And one thing I just found out... I was going through my itunes, and then I remembered the new features they showed on the windows media player for vista. Well they already exist on itunes. All of them.

And the new cool feature for looking at files on vista? http://xs512.xs.to/xs512/07050/itunes.jpg
Already existed in itunes. And will be in the iphone.

I don't know. You really don't pay just for a better design. When you think about it, the vista is more focused on the superior design, with a lot of bright colors and a lot of light effects and shit. The mac is more simple looking with the same features on the OSX that came years before vista.

It just dissapoints me that it took microsoft 5 years to make a secure system and to copy features from other places.

I can't wait for firefox to come out with a new browser that owns the new IE as well. Give it a few months.

if you want a good mac then they are expensive and it's also harder to upgrade...

Personally my friend has Vista and another friend of mine works as a technician and uses Vista constantly now...they both say that Vista is'nt a big of a step from XP.

It's very similar to Mac OS, and even on this clip i saw on youtube with Bill Gates being called out by the host that Vista is a Mac OS wannabe lolz...and it's true.

Apart from the previews and the 3d vision of the folders, vista is simply a copy of mac OS X, but it's great.
The new explorer is a copy of the well known firefox i think.
So we can say that Wndows ripp everythink from the web ike they always do

macs are known for being no good at gaming.

that is probably the only place windows beats macs, in gaming. for everything else mac ftw.

vista is almost a complete copy of os x.

i use both formats, os x and xp at the moment, and mac is by far better.

much easier to use, looks far better, the little details added is what makes the mac stand out, when i got it i was amazed, they seem to have thought of everything.

apple > microsoft.

Yeah but a lot of shit doesn't work on a linux. It's more for programming really.

I would rather have a decent mac than a good pc to be honest with you. It's not just because the mac is "cooler" jarle. It's cooler because of all the fixtures and its usability.

At school, in the design/production departament, we have the most top of the line amazing computers that I am sure you would love. They are very powerful machines, and they use them for 3d Animation and they render something in a flash. Hoenstly, my macbook pro runs apps faster than those pcs. Maybe some of the processes take longer on here, but just the everyday use is a lot faster.

I'm sure a great pc is great... but the mac is not realy that much more expensive.

Actually this is how I ended up buying a mac. I was going to get a laptop, but a pc laptop. We looked at some of the good brands of pcs because I didn't want to get a shitty one. A pc laptop with the EXACT same specifications as my macbook pro was more expensive. And the screen was smaller. If you add the graphics card that this machine has, the dual processors, the fact that it runs OSX, and even your "cool" element and UI, for less than the pc laptop with the same specs... for like 50 dollars less it was. So I bought the mac because it is a better machine and it turned out cheaper.

And for the gamers... you should see how good medal of honor works on my laptop . Laptops are not really for gaming, and macs are not really for gaming, but the games that they do have for mac look great. Half life 2 works well I heard too.

And the reason apple have not tapped into the market for games so much like microsoft have is because it is not sucha big target market compared to music, movies, cellphones. After the iphone, they might tap into the gaming market as well and get some big deals.

This is what makes apple great. They make their own software and operating systems like windows. BUT then they make their own hardware, the macintosh, to work perfectly with their software. Windows doesn't. They build operating systems for someone else's machines. So they don't always sync and gell and that's why you have little kinks and errors and fuck ups. It's much more than superficial.
