overlay turns out reddish color Post #1 | | Guest | overlay turns out reddish color
Whenever I set a layer to "overlay" or "hard light" or anything else, it comes out a reddish color, and I can't find anyway to fix it.
Like I want to put someone's face on a dog. I set the face layer to "hard light" cause it stands out better then overlay. And it comes out a red color.
Even when I restart photoshop and/or computer, it always does it, even with different images.
Anyone got an idea of how to fix it?

Welcome to the community NullZilla, hope you emjoy your stay. [honesty]
Actually that's not a bug and there's nothing to fix.
I think you should read this page for a better understanding of how Layer Blend Modes work: http://photoshopgurus.info/beginners...nd_modes.shtml
Simply put... the reason you're seeing red is because that's what colour(s) get produced when you mix the colours of the 2 layers "together".
If you're trying to do a photo manip like that dogfaced one you posted, there's no blend modes involved in that. It's just layer masking and using the HUE&SAT filter (Ctrl+U) to adjust the human's skintone to match the dogs skin/fur.
However... the method i would use to match the 2 skin tones would be to duplicate the dog layer, move this copy above the human layer, and set the copy layer to Color or Hue blend mode. From there, if it's needed use Levels (Ctrl_L) to darken the skintone.

I tried another one today with a cat, but couldn't get it to blend in as well as the dog.
I forgot what I did | |

That's because you didn't place the eyes and the mouth on the correct place. Halfway the mouth should be exactly below the nose, and for the eyes: use a blend layermode or partial transparancy to place eyes on the cat's eyes.
Great idea, good work, and, well: I suppose it will be raining cats and dogs soon...
