You Win XP users probably all knew this, but still...: one of the big advantage of mac (OS9, probably also higher) is in my eyes the fact it allows one to change the colour of folders.
[saywhat] I just found out that XP allows this also. Just right-click on a folder and choose properties, get the tab customise and choose another icon... now, finally, I can start to clean up the chaos on two hdd's of 40GB, some 100CDRoms and 200 diskettes.
Actually Erik, you've been able to change the icons of your folders for a while on windows os's, but i'm not sure which version this actually started with.
What I do right now is use some of the clearly distinguishable symbols, like the magnifier for folders I checked, a question mark etc etc.
Thousands and thousands of files, and very often backups from backups etc etc etc...
Aarrrgghhh!
No one ever tells this to a puter debutante, and in three years I collected so much, and backed each item up several times on diskettes, later CD's, then also on another hdd and now I am stuck with an hour a days of checking and cleaning for at least a few weeks...DOH, as Mark would say...
as for images, I normally use the thumbnail or the filmstrip option as it offers me the chance of seeing each one. (didn't I see this one before,,,??? but in which folder was it...???)
