Quark X? Come to think about it, I've never seen one. Good question. Tho I haven't used that for years, MUST SEARCH.........
Yup Al....... you are a lone cowboy [bustagut] [:I . It's basically a layout apps sort of like Pagemaker on steroids . When adobe acquired Pagemaker, Quark was laid in the backroom.
Thanks for the help all. I will keep on looking. I normaly wouldn't use Quark X exept that this printing house in town that I do some work for uses it and they want me to have a go at it. [confused]
Then be prepared to pay for it as it is quite expensive!
In fact: it is only needed for making lay-outs of books and magazines and such. If you deliver any good pdf the printer will not be able to XPress his gratitude.
Normally the file made in Quark or InDesign has to be made ready for print in another application like Preps.
You can find a demo of Quark XPress 6 and a 7 page demo in Computer Arts magazine 77, September issue:
I have a friend that designs for a newspaper and she uses Quark. Doesn't really like the program. I did a ton of research and went with Pagemaker. Haven't had any problems so far... [shhh]
I believe she is going to switch to Pagemaker. She has problems with files going to print. She has been doing this for years and the company she works for would only let her use Quark. Lemme email her and see if she has any good tut links or info for ya.
