Focus on layout. Be sure to add more than one bit of text into a piece as well. It's always good to learn these tricks as well.

etc. The point is you've got to mix and match, experiment with different styles, upper case and lower case, numbers, the works. Be sure to look around at work to see what looks good blending text in as well, because that's important as well. Jimbob is very good at that. It's not just the text that counts either. Putting logos and brushes in strategic places also looks good with well balanced text.

Just go for it, you'll get better at it over time. Start simply if you have to and build it up.
