Turned down Fulham and Real Madrid. Interest, rumored and otherwise, from Chelsea, Newcastle, Milan, Inter, Lazio, Lyon, and Porto.
He wanted a club where he could play immediately. Marseilles is a nice large (G-14) club where he can make an impact soon after his arrival. Probably the best choice for him.

Well, Marseille was reported as being a done deal, but uhh, apparently not. Gooch is reportedly moving to Newcastle on loan.
