Hi Wendy and lovely PSG folks,

I am a novice and was attempting your 'blonde hair' tutorial. In step 2 you said "mask and copy hair to seperate layer"; now the big question I don't understan is what is the best method to 'select' hair? I don't understand the "filter/extract" method.

That tutorial is incredible :}, I can't believe how realistic the result is. But I guess that tute was written for intermediate and advanced users?

P.S - That woman in the picture is a real hottie [honesty] [excited] %} is that you? I think I'm gonna stick around this site more often

Cheers,

Hi dave and welcome to the forum!

[bustagut] [bustagut] [bustagut] No, that "hottie" in my tute IS not me [size=9px](I wish)... [/size] [shhh] [size=9px]but don't ya know that beauty is only skin deep! [/size]

Yes, the tutorial was written for an "intermediate" skill level and, if you're a novice... well all the more power to you for tackling it!

There are as many different ways to make a selection (in this case the hair) as your skill/knowledge of the various tools permits.

As far as the "extract" method is concerned, I will refer you here... http://www.heathrowe.com/tuts/extracttool.asp

It's a straight forward tutorial. Bear in mind, that it will take some practice and that results will vary, dependent on the background. Often times, once my extraction has been made, I will use the "clone" tool to put back "bits" that the extraction method has erased. Therefore, it's a "must" that you always keep a duplicate of your original.

Cheers and best of luck! [righton]

And, don't forget to post your results...I'd love to see how you made out.

Thank you Wendy,

I'm gonna practice and see if I can get a decent result. I wanna turn her into a red head tho, flame red and I promise to show you what I come up with.

P.S - yes I know beauty is only skin deep , but it was almost love at first sight there, did I mention she's the bomb? [honesty] [righton]

Hi Wendy,

I have busy trying the basic tutorials, before I move to intermediate. I am dying to try your tutorial as soon as I get a grip on the basics.
