I had no idea what to put in the empty space.. nothing I thought of worked well. I tried to keep the render as simple as the rest of the wallpaper, but any suggestions as to what I should do to it?

You could make the text a little bit bigger, and brush on the right side of the wall, because that part looks really empty. You could also blend a few pics on the background. And imho, you should remove all the blur of the render and add some sharpen.
