What may seem Blatantly obvious to most, Frank Lampard has not justified his selection in an England shirt for some time now and since Euro 2004 has been (
IMO) a weak link in the national team. Fat Frank is also the reason that our best midfielder, Steven Gerrard, has been unable to influence England's play in the dynamic and energy driven way he used to (5-1 anyone) and so often does for Liverpool.
What are the alternatives I hear you ask, Hargreaves? Carrick? Parker? All very good footballers but none would compliment Stevie G or benefit the TEAM more than Gareth Barry (again
IMO).
So here we go with the bout of the........day. In the Blue corner, weighing in at a lean 14st 6lb wearing the white marzipan shorts with pork scratching trim the 'Dagenham Dough-boy' Frr annnk Lammmmmm-paarrd.
And in the Red corner weighing in at 11st 4lb wearing claret shorts (by Nike)!! with light-blue trim, the' Aston Expressway', Garrrrrrr-eth Barrrrr-rrrry.
The bout will consist of 5 rounds with 10 points available in each round. Most points wins,
Round 1 Passing:
FL - good short range of passing, but anything over 35 yards gets a bit wayward. 6
GB - excellent all round passing, does drop em short occasionally. 8
Round 2 Tackling:
FL - oh dear Franky-boy not very good at this are you? Bit harsh maybe but he's not is he? 4
GB - puts the boot in when needed but reads the game so well doesn't need to get dirty too often (eh Gregs) 8
Round 3 Shooting:
FL - quality, no problems there, although needs a few warm up tries. 9
GB - not bad from the penalty spot could do better from other areas though 6
Round 4 Positional play:
FL - can't play anywhere much other than CM or ACM 2
GB - here we go, CB, LB, DM, CM, LCM and ACM 8
Round 5 Stamina/work ethic:
FL - lots of energy, tends to drift out of the game if it's not going well though 8
GB - gives 100% wherever he is on the pitch and whatever the situation 9
FL - 29
GB - 39
GB WINS!
